About the Blog
This is just the personal blog of some guy named Rick Nagle. The opinions expressed herein are usually my own, though I do like playing the Devil’s advocate.
Since this is a personal blog, I don’t plan on limiting the scope of post topics to any degree. That may change, but for now, CrabbyNightOwl.com is a glorified opinion/editorial column.
Despite the “Crabby” part of this blog’s name, I will try not to post many rants. I’m not here to complain; I’m here to inform, amuse, and experiment, and to bring my thoughts and observations to anyone interested in them.
I also plan on tying a video version of CrabbyNightOwl.com to this blog, via YouTube. That’s in the works.
About the Name
I am a night person. My brain works better after sunset, and I’m usually more relaxed and I have more energy. I can function adequately on a daylight schedule, but I function much better on a night schedule.
I once had a girlfriend who was most definitely a day person, one of those irritatingly cheerful Morning Larks. Even though she started the day as a zombie, she was cheerful and energetic all during the daylight hours. Her daily energy level peaks before sunset. Since she was almost always in a good mood in the morning, and I was usually groggy and grumpy, no matter how much sleep I’d gotten, she took to calling me a Crabby Night Owl.
I chose crabbynightowl.com on a whim, after I found that my first two dozen or so choices had already been registered.
About the Author
Oh, sure, make me talk about myself.
My world view is based on the assumption that we humans are much too simple to grasp the complexity of the Universe, and so each of us can only hold a partial understanding of the way things work. It’s absolutely foolish to assume that any one person or group has full understanding of any aspect “reality.” I also understand that it’s human nature to assume that things are always as we believe they are. I’ve got a few posts planned on this very subject. I’ll add links to them here when I’ve posted them.
I have an “ongoing” college education, meaning that I’ve got a few credits under my belt, but no degree to date. I plan on changing that shortly. Then, I’ll continue my ongoing college education with a degree or two under my belt.
I enjoy cooking, hiking, writing, animals, and coffee, and Rumple Mintz in my hot cocoa on a cold Winter evening. I’m a fan of science fiction, as well as science fact, and I’m tantalized by the nebulous field of “fringe science”.
