Happy New Year!

May you get the best of what you want in the coming year. Or, at least, may you get the best of what you need. May opportunities present themselves to you in ways you can easily recognize, and may you have the presence or mind to take advantage of them all.

Even if you don’t celebrate the Gregorian New Year, may your New Year bring you the best of everything you hope for.

30 Thankful Things

30 Thankful Things… Not that the things, themselves, are thankful, but that I’m thankful for them. I like the alliteration of the title. This is just a random list off the top of my head. Also, notice how slyly I backdated this post so you wouldn’t notice it was late. Shhh…

  1. A roof over my head.
  2. Family members who care about me.
  3. Friends.
  4. A dog who loves me.
  5. Crisp autumn days.
  6. Good coffee.
  7. Spellcheckers.
  8. Books.
  9. Thoughtful and creative authors.
  10. Music.
  11. Thoughtful and creative musicians.
  12. Comfortable shoes.
  13. Flannel shirts.
  14. The colors green, blue, violet, and crimson.
  15. A beautiful daybreak view of the city.
  16. A beautiful view of the mountains.
  17. Nearby wilderness and park areas.
  18. Hawthorn trees, and oak trees, and Douglas firs.
  19. Raspberries, lemons, and chocolate.
  20. Belgian Waffles.
  21. The nighttime sky at high altitude, away from the city.
  22. Puzzles to solve.
  23. Victorian aesthetic sense and the Steampunk movement.
  24. Teachers who cared.
  25. Fireflies.
  26. Digital cameras.
  27. CD players in cars.
  28. iTunes.
  29. Quiet moments.
  30. Fresh air.

So, what is it that you’re thankful to have in your life? I’m sure you can think of at least 30 things, probably more. If you make a list, and you like it, why not put it in the comments?
